special commissions & bespoke designs
When ‘off the shelf’ just won’t do
Our first commission came from a family who live nearby. They were residing in what used to be the post office in the old village of Park Bridge, which is now a country park along with neighbouring Daisy Nook, and has been converted into their home.
They wanted to see if I could replicate the building as a home for the blue tits that visited their garden so I took some photographs and set about the task.
Researching the tit family, I found that they don’t colonise so the interior was divided into three sections with only the section behind the bird entrance accessible by the birds. This made the compartment a cosy hole in which to nest and rear their fledglings. I was as impressed with the results as they were.
After a generous article about our bird houses and feeders was published in ‘World of Interiors’ magazine our houses went global, we had people ordering from all around the world.
We have since replicated a barn commissioned as a birthday gift for their friend in the Caribbean. The barn was on land to the rear of the villa and they thought it would be a wonderful surprise gift. We asked for photographs to be sent by email and from that we produced the finished birdhouse.
We have completed commissions of family homes replicated for special anniversary presents, and we have sent commissions to America for bird houses with slightly larger entrance holes for the native birds.
Larger cottages have also been commissioned for sparrows with three accessible compartments as, unlike the tit family, sparrows are happy to live together in colonies.
